Non-Rated, Capture the King Tournament
(Grades K-6 Only)
There are 5 separate tournaments:
1. Friday May 8: 1:30pm-5pm
2. Saturday May 9: 10:30am-2pm
3. Saturday May 9: 2:30pm-6pm
4. Sunday May 10: 10:30am-2pm
5. Sunday May 10: 2:30pm-6pm
Each of these are separate tournaments with separate entry fees and separate awards.
These Tournaments Are Formatted For/Perfect For:
- The parent who feels their child is not ready to compete in the WCF - Youth Championship yet because their child has just started to learn & play chess.
- Have not yet learned know how to checkmate.
- Have never played in any USCF sanctioned tournament.
- Don't know how to keep score/notation nor use chess clocks.
- Do not have a USCF rating nor membership.
Format:
Games are won by either capturing the opponent's king or checkmate.
"Touch Move, Touch Capture" rules will be followed.
Players play 2 games against each opponent for total of 8 games.
No elimination. Awards are based on total number of wins out of the 8 games for each player.
No USCF membership is required.
If player does have a USCF membership & rating, he/she can only have played in 1 prior USCF rated tournament, either online or over the board.
Trophies: Top 5 Individuals + Top Club/Team per Tournament
Round Times: We begin at the scheduled starting time. Each next round will begin 10 minutes upon completion of last game in previous round. Total Time Commitment/Tournament: 3 1/2 hours.
Entry Fee: $30 by 4/1/26, $35 by 5/1, $45 on May 2 or after (per Tournament)
Cancellation/Refunds: Cancellations and refunds are given if requested by May 1. There is a $10 admin fee charged per tournament. Please allow 5-10 days for processing. There are no refunds on May 2 or after. Withdrawals: If you wish to withdraw from a tournament, please contact a tournament director and inform him/her of your decision to not continue participating in the tournament. Thank you.
